Kamau Brathwaite honored with PEN/Voelcker Award for Poetry

Kamau Brathwaite has been awarded the PEN/Voelcker Award for Poetry. The prize is awarded to a poet whose distinguished and growing body of work represents a notable and accomplished presence in American literature. Judges Ed Roberson, Natalie Scenters-Zapico and Ocean Vuong selected Kamau based on his lifelong contribution to American (and Caribbean) literature, including the creation of his own literary language and typeface, Sycorax (named after the witch in Shakespeare's The Tempest) Read more at the PEN website.
